That's textbook, Laurette. WOW. You are darn-tootin' lucky.
Laurette Theron: Thank you Ginnie. In a way i was lucky when i spotted the bird. These bird perch on the same spot for long periods of time which makes them nice subjects to photograph.

A flash of colour in the woods. I am still trying to catch one in flight. Good pic.
Laurette Theron: Thank you Louis much appreciated. The ultimate would be to catch one of these colourful beauties in flight with patience and time it will come oneday.

A fabulous capture, Laurette. I've never even seen one, never mind photographed it.

Great shot, Laurette - with just 200mm you must have been able to get pretty close!
Laurette Theron: Many thanks Tom. Could get fairly close but had to sit very still.
Wonderful dof, lovely rich colour, and mister kingfisher turned and posed for you showing off that great bill! Lovely portrait! smile
Laurette Theron: Thank you Alexandra. This kingfisher did pose rather nicely when i took this shot.

This is so good. Of course the bird is beautiful, but look too at the fantastic branch, and the balanced composition with the bird looking into the picture. Superb!

A fine portrait. The kingfishers here are too quick for me!
Laurette Theron: Thank you Graeme. In a way i was lucky with this one sitting quite motionless on the branch but the ultimate would be to capture one of these beauties in action.
